Collaboration, Innovation and Commitment.
PSI-Caribbean is one of 69 country programs within the global network of Population Services International (PSI). PSI’s World headquarters is in Washington, D.C. with a European office in Amsterdam. PSI is a global health organization dedicated to improving the health of people in the developing world by focusing on serious challenges like a lack of family planning, HIV and AIDS, barriers to maternal health, and the greatest threats to children under five, including malaria, diarrhoea, pneumonia and malnutrition.
PSI-Caribbean’s initial work focused primarily on HIV prevention and expanded to address sexual and reproductive health more broadly among youth at risk and more recently among other groups including males and females at risk and members of the military through its branded Got it? Get it. campaign. The organization has since expanded to address gender-based violence prevention in Trinidad and Tobago through the Make It Stop campaign. PSI-Caribbean has also been addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases through Core, a youth-focused healthy lives program. More recently, the organization has further expanded to address additional health areas that include cervical cancer and Zika.
A hallmark of PSI is a commitment to the principle that health services and products are most effective when they are accompanied by robust communications and distribution efforts that help ensure wide acceptance and proper use.
PSI works in partnership with local governments, ministries of health and local organizations to create health solutions that are built to last.
Since 2005, PSI-Caribbean (PSI-C) has worked to empower individuals by providing them with key health information in ways they can understand and linking this to easy, affordable access to life-saving services. Headquartered in Trinidad , PSI-Caribbean has managed country programs in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Maarten, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad.
