World Diabetes Day

November 14th is World Diabetes Day. Here are some startling facts; According to the International Diabetes Federation, there are 382 million people living with diabetes worldwide. In about 20 years (2035) approximately 592 million people or one person in ten will have the disease. What’s more disturbing is that this disease still remains hidden. Globally up to half of all people with diabetes remain undiagnosed.

The World Diabetes Day 2014 campaign is centered around promoting the importance of  protecting the health and well-being of future generations in addition to achieving meaningful outcomes for people with diabetes and those at risk. The slogan “Diabetes: protect our future” sums up all of the campaign activities. ****
